Botox is a purified protein (botulinum toxin type A) that temporarily relaxes the specific muscles responsible for repeated facial expressions. When those muscles soften, the dynamic lines they create (frown lines, forehead creases and crow's feet) smooth out for a refreshed, well-rested look. The most popular areas are the horizontal forehead lines, the '11s' between the brows and the crow's feet around the eyes. Botox can also soften bunny lines on the nose, smooth a dimpled chin, create a subtle brow lift, ease a gummy smile and relax vertical neck bands. It has therapeutic uses too, including jaw tension and TMJ and excessive sweating. We'll map the right areas for your goals at your consultation.
Most people notice a softening within three to five days, with full results at about two weeks. Results typically last three to four months. With consistent treatment the effect often lasts a little longer over time, since the targeted muscles gradually learn to stay relaxed.
Discomfort is minimal. We use a very fine needle, each injection feels like a quick pinch, and the whole visit takes only a few minutes. Botox is a true 'lunchtime' treatment. There's essentially no downtime and you can head right back to your day. You may see tiny bumps or slight redness that fade within 15 to 30 minutes, and occasionally minor bruising.

Botox is priced per unit, so your total depends on the areas treated and how strong those muscles are. As a rough guide, the forehead, frown lines and crow's feet each take somewhere around 10 to 25 units, but every face is different. We'll recommend a unit count at your complimentary consultation and confirm the price before we begin. No surprises.
Botox has been used cosmetically for over two decades and is FDA-approved for several facial areas. Administered by a trained, licensed professional, it has a strong safety record. Side effects are usually mild and temporary: slight redness, swelling or bruising at the injection site, and occasionally a short-lived headache. We review your health history before every treatment to make sure Botox is a good fit for you.
To reduce the chance of bruising, it helps to avoid alcohol for about 24 hours beforehand and, if your doctor agrees, blood-thinning supplements such as fish oil, vitamin E and ibuprofen for a few days. Never stop a prescribed medication without medical advice. Afterward, stay upright for about four hours, skip strenuous exercise, facials and saunas for the rest of the day, and avoid rubbing the treated areas so the product settles exactly where it was placed.
Most healthy adults bothered by dynamic lines are good candidates. Botox is not recommended if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or if you have certain neuromuscular conditions.
